During the outage, users were greeted with a message stating, “ChatGPT is at capacity right now,” as reported by The Verge.
OpenAI promptly acknowledged the issue and assured users that the team was actively investigating and implementing a fix. The company attributed the periodic outages to abnormal traffic patterns indicative of a potential Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, emphasizing ongoing efforts to mitigate the situation.
Notably, OpenAI recently announced updates for ChatGPT and introduced GPT-4 Turbo, touted as the company’s most powerful Language Model (LLM) to date. Among the upgrades, users will soon have the capability to create personalized versions of ChatGPT, with the opportunity to earn money by allowing others to use them. OpenAI refers to these customized chatbots as GPTs, emphasizing their accessibility to anyone without coding requirements.
Available initially for ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users, OpenAI plans to extend GPT availability to a broader user base in the near future. The company also unveiled plans for a GPT store, featuring creations by verified users. GPTs included in the store will be searchable and accessible to the public. Creators stand to earn money based on the usage of their GPTs.
Regarding GPT-4 Turbo, the AI model boasts increased power and affordability compared to its predecessors. It retains information up to April 2023 and offers a larger context window, allowing users to input more extensive prompts.
