Upcoming Pixel 8 Pro Launch on October 4: What We Know About Google’s Latest Phone

Insights into Google’s Latest Phone: The Upcoming Pixel 8 Pro Launch on October 4

The Pixel 8 Pro’s appearance may closely resemble that of the existing Pixel 7 Pro, with a slight potential increase in price. Google is gearing up to launch the Pixel 8 Pro on October 4, which is nearly a month after the unveiling of the latest iPhone 15 and 15 Pro models. Ahead of the official launch, Google has already offered a glimpse of the Pixel 8 Pro’s design, which bears a resemblance to the previous-gen Pixel 7 Pro, with a few subtle modifications. This continuity in design might be attributed to Google’s desire to maintain focus on its first Pixel Fold, launched earlier this year. Nonetheless, we can anticipate improved performance with the inclusion of a new Tensor G3 chipset.

Google has hinted at a Porcelain white color option for the Pixel 8 Pro, although a black variant may also be in the pipeline. The phone’s specifications have been a subject of speculation for some time. According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the new Pixel phone will feature a 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz LTPO OLED display with a small hole-punch cutout housing an 11-megapixel selfie camera. On the rear, there may be three sensors: a 50-megapixel OIS-enabled primary camera, a 64-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 49-megapixel telephoto lens. A new time-of-flight (ToF) sensor may contribute to improved focus. However, the rear cameras will be situated in a long pill-shaped cutout, while the rear camera bar will remain. The phone is expected to feature a combination of glass and metal, similar to last year’s Pixel 7 Pro.

As previously mentioned, the Pixel 8 Pro may be powered by the Google Tensor G3 SoC and could house a 4,950mAh battery with 27W wired charging. Google is likely to continue omitting the charger from the box. The phone might also include a new infrared temperature sensor for checking body temperature.

Other noteworthy features, as per the tipster, encompass a Titan security chip, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. The Pixel 8 Pro will still support 5G, although it may use the same modem.

Despite its similar design and specifications, Google is expected to emphasize the Pixel 8 Pro’s software experience. This could involve new AI enhancements to the camera app, along with the introduction of an Audio Magic Eraser feature designed to remove background noise from videos, accessible via a dedicated app. Additionally, Google may introduce some pre-installed Bard features. The Pixel 8 Pro will come equipped with Android 14.

Regarding pricing, there might be a marginal increase. The Pixel 8 Pro is anticipated to launch at EUR 1,235 (approximately Rs 1.10 lakh) for the base 128GB storage variant and EUR 1,309 (roughly Rs 1.16 lakh) for the 256GB version. India-specific pricing is expected to be relatively more affordable compared to these figures, with the Pixel 7 Pro having launched at Rs 84,999.
