PM Modi Recommends Harnessing AI for the Advancement of the Sanskrit Language and Rediscovering Lost Volumes of Vedic Mathematics

During the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the potential benefits and risks of artificial intelligence (AI). While acknowledging AI’s potential for development, he cautioned against its destructive misuse, particularly in the hands of terrorists. PM Modi advocated for the establishment of a global framework to ethically manage AI, encompassing protocols for testing and deploying high-risk AI tools. Additionally, he announced India’s plan to launch an AI mission to revolutionize the technology landscape, focusing on sectors like healthcare.

Addressing challenges such as deepfakes, cybersecurity, and data theft, PM Modi highlighted the significant threat posed by AI tools falling into the hands of terrorists. He emphasized the need for global deliberation to formulate a concrete plan to prevent AI misuse, similar to existing agreements and protocols for international issues.

PM Modi proposed leveraging AI to advance the Sanskrit language and recover missing volumes of Vedic mathematics. He stressed that the direction of AI should align with human and democratic values, emphasizing that addressing ethical, economic, and social concerns, including privacy through data security, would enhance trust in AI.

Highlighting the inclusive nature of AI, PM Modi emphasized its importance for achieving inclusive outcomes. He described AI as a global movement, calling for credible and transparent AI-generated information and unbiased data and algorithms. He reiterated the Indian government’s commitment to an inclusive approach, aligning with the development mantra of “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.
