Bharti Airtel quietly introduces a mobile prepaid plan at Rs 1,499, offering unlimited 5G data and a complimentary Netflix Basic subscription for users

Bharti Airtel has launched a new mobile prepaid plan that seamlessly combines unlimited 5G data with a complimentary Netflix Basic subscription. This exclusive offering, the only one of its kind for Airtel prepaid users, is now available nationwide, providing users with high-speed internet along with OTT benefits.

Although the company has not officially announced this plan, it has discreetly added the Rs 1499 plan to its listings on both the website and mobile app, as reported by Telecom Talk. Let’s delve into the comprehensive details of Airtel’s Rs 1499 prepaid plan.

Airtel Rs 1499 Plan Details:

  • 3GB of daily data
  • Unlimited voice calls
  • 100 SMS per day
  • Validity of 84 days

The plan also comes with additional perks, including a complimentary Netflix Basic subscription, unlimited 5G data access, Apollo 24|7 Circle membership, free Hellotunes, and Wynk Music access. Notably, the standalone cost of a Netflix Basic subscription in India is Rs 199, but Airtel is offering it as a bundled deal, allowing users to save on extra subscription costs.

To claim the complimentary Netflix Basic subscription, Airtel prepaid subscribers can access it through the Airtel Thanks app, following a similar process for claiming unlimited 5G data benefits. Users can navigate to the ‘Discover Thanks Benefits’ section within the app, where the Netflix benefit is prominently displayed. By tapping on the ‘Claim’ button and confirming with a simple ‘Proceed,’ users can activate the Netflix subscription on their mobile number.

Importantly, the bundled Netflix Basic subscription remains valid for the entire 84-day duration of the prepaid plan. As per Airtel’s policy, “For Prepaid, the benefit will continue as long as the customer stays on a Netflix eligible recharge & as per recharge validity.”

In comparison, Airtel’s competitor, Reliance Jio, offers two prepaid plans with a Netflix subscription. The Rs 1,099 plan caters to mobile users with unlimited 5G data, 2GB daily data, unlimited voice calling, and an 84-day validity. For larger-screen viewing, the Rs 1,499 plan provides unlimited 5G internet on compatible devices, also with an 84-day validity.

Both Jio plans include the basic Netflix Mobile subscription, allowing users with existing Netflix accounts to link them during the activation process. Until the account is linked, users will continue to be charged separately for their Netflix subscription. These plans ensure a seamless viewing experience across various devices, including mobile devices, larger screens like the Jio Set-top Box, tablets, and laptops.
