In the QS World University Rankings 2024, IIT Bombay has achieved a remarkable position among the top 150 universities worldwide.

                       IIT Bombay, the Indian Institute of Technology, has achieved an impressive position among the top 150 universities in the world, according to the latest edition of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. This marks progress for IIT Bombay compared to its previous ranking of 172nd.

Between 2018 and 2022, IIT Bombay made significant strides in research, generating an impressive 1,43,8s00 citations from 15,905 academic papers, indicating a notable research growth of approximately 17 percent.

An official statement from IIT Bombay expressed that the institution has emerged as a torchbearer for Indian higher education, attributing its rise to prominence to consistent improvements in research quality and reputation. Over the past five years, IIT Bombay has advanced its employer reputation ranking from 102nd to 69th and improved its Citations per Faculty rank from 226th to 133rd. However, the statement acknowledges the need for further enhancement in internationalization metrics to fully realize its potential as a globally diverse institution.

India’s academic prowess was demonstrated as a total of six Indian institutes were featured among the top 300 rankings. Notably, IIT Kharagpur secured the 271st position, followed by IIT Kanpur at 278th, and IIT Madras at 285th.
