The Lakshadweep administration announces a comprehensive revamp of its education system, signaling a strategic alignment with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and a transition to English as the primary medium of instruction

The Lakshadweep administration has made a significant change in its education system by announcing the transformation of all schools under the Department of Education in the union territory from Malayalam to CBSE English medium.

On December 12, the Director of Education in the union territory issued an order to this effect.

”With the objective of enhancing educational standards and adapting to the evolving educational landscape, the Department of Education in the union territory of Lakshadweep has decided to shift SCERT Kerala Malayalam medium classes to CBSE English medium,” stated the order. Starting from the academic year 2024-25, all schools under the department will exclusively enroll students in the CBSE English medium stream from grade 1 onwards, it added.
