Instagram is Experimenting with a Feed Similar to X, Exclusively Featuring Posts from Verified Accounts

Instagram Tests New Feature Allowing Users to Filter Feeds for Meta Verified Account Posts

Meta is exploring novel methods to provide support to its paid verified users. In a recent announcement, Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, revealed that the company is currently experimenting with a new feed feature that will exclusively display posts from verified users. This development allows users to view content from their favorite celebrities, influencers, and brands without having to navigate through their entire feed.

The new feed feature is integrated into Instagram’s Meta Verified subscription service, which verifies user identities and offers additional benefits, including priority customer support and exclusive stickers. Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s head, described the new feed option as a means for businesses and creators to increase their visibility.

“We’re testing a way for people to explore their Instagram feed and reels by toggling to only Meta Verified accounts. We’re exploring this as a new control for people and a way for businesses and creators to get discovered. Let us know if you’d be interested in using this,” Mosseri conveyed via his Instagram broadcast channel.

Additionally, Mosseri shared a screenshot illustrating the appearance of the new feed feature. As per the image, the option titled “Meta Verified” will be accessible under “Following” and “Favorites” when users tap the Instagram logo.

The introduction of the Meta Verified feature not only enables regular users to curate their content consumption from verified users but also serves as an enticing perk for those seeking to acquire the Meta verified label. This has the potential to make Meta Verified, which costs $11.99 on the web or $14.99 within the app, a more appealing choice for businesses and creators eager to expand their reach.

Although Mosseri disclosed Instagram’s ongoing testing of a new feed for verified users, specific details about the test, such as its scale and eligibility criteria, were not provided.

For context, Meta Verified is a paid subscription program launched by Instagram and Facebook earlier in the year. This paid service offers subscribers a blue verification checkmark, enhanced customer support, and protection against impersonation. The program was initially trialed in Australia and New Zealand before expanding to the United States and businesses. It subsequently launched in the United Kingdom, Canada, India, and most global markets in the spring of 2023.
