This remarkable achievement marked the first time in the Asian Games’ history that an Indian woman had achieved gold in the javelin category. Sri Lanka’s Nadeesha Dilhan Lekamge Hatarabage secured the silver medal with a throw of 61.57 meters, while China’s Huihui Lyu claimed the bronze with a throw measuring 61.29 meters.

Rani’s performance throughout the competition was exceptional. She initiated her campaign with a throw covering 56.99 meters in her first attempt, and her subsequent throws consistently exceeded the 60-meter mark. It was her remarkable throw of 61.28 meters in her second attempt that firmly placed her in contention for a medal. However, her standout performance came in the fourth attempt, where she unleashed a mighty throw of 62.92 meters, securing the coveted gold medal.

This outstanding achievement not only brought glory to Annu Rani but also added another gold to India’s medal tally at the event, marking the country’s 15th gold medal in total.
