The G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration has announced the establishment of a new “Working Group on Empowerment of Women” to provide support for the G20 Women’s Ministerial. The inaugural meeting of this working group is slated to take place during Brazil’s G20 presidency. While encompassing a wide range of women’s empowerment issues, such as wage disparities, sexual violence, employment prospects, and food security, the summit placed significant emphasis on the objective of reducing the digital gender gap by 50% by the year 2030. This commitment entails addressing gender-related norms and overcoming barriers to digital technology accessibility, affordability, adoption, and usage. Moreover, the declaration advocates for the development of regulatory policy frameworks that facilitate the active participation of women and girls in national digital strategies, fostering the growth of digital literacy and skills among them.
