Providing a channel for individuals to report incidents, seek assistance, or share information can help in preventing and addressing cases of harassment or violence against women.

Having a dedicated helpline can offer several benefits, such as:

  • Increased accessibility: The helpline allows women to easily reach out for help and support whenever they feel unsafe or threatened.
  • Confidentiality: The helpline can assure callers of confidentiality, allowing them to share information without fear of retaliation or judgment. This can encourage more individuals to come forward and provide valuable information.
  • Prompt response: With a dedicated helpline, trained personnel can respond quickly to distress calls or reports, ensuring timely intervention and assistance to those in need.
  • Information gathering: The helpline can serve as a valuable source of information for the police. People can provide tips, share suspicious activities, or report incidents, which can help law enforcement agencies in preventing crimes and apprehending perpetrators.

Overall, the establishment of a helpline for women’s safety reflects a proactive approach by the Pune police chief in addressing the concerns and ensuring the well-being of women in the community. It demonstrates a commitment to creating a safer and more inclusive city for everyone.
